Les Petites Filles modèles ("The Exemplary Little Girls") is a French novel for children written by Sophie Rostopchine, Comtesse de Ségur in 1857. Les Petites Filles modèles is part of a trilogy; the other two parts are Les Vacances (1859) and Les Malheurs de Sophie (1859).
The novel relates the story of a family, with particular focus on the girls Camille, Madeleine and Marguerite. Through various adventures, the girls learn to distinguish good from evil, especially Marguerite, the youngest, who is full of good intentions but which still has a long way to go to resemble the "girl child models," Camille and Madeleine. There are quite a few references to spanking in the novel.
Les Petites Filles modèles had many editions, is still in print, and spawned several derived works. The original novel from 1858 was illustrated by the French artist Bertall (Albert d'Arnoux). A century later, Les Petites Filles modèles was also made into two films (one unfinished and one erotic and only loosely based on the original work), as well as turned into an adult comic.

[edit] The comic by Georges Lévis
Georges Lévis (Jean Sidobre) made a parody of the novel in the form of a 40-page spanking comic, published in 1982 by Editions Dominique Leroy. It is sexually explicit and contains several erotic and spanking scenes. The comic was published in French under the title Les Petites Filles modèles and in English under the title The Exemplary Little Girls.
