McLintock! is a 1963 comedy Western directed by Andrew V. McLaglen. The movie is loosely based on Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, and stars John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara.
McLintock! is said to have the "best known spanking scenes in the history of cinema"[1] (probably mainly because it features two well-known movie stars).
The film has entered the public domain and can be legally viewed for free on the Internet.

Wealthy cattle baron George Washington McLintock is living the single life on his ranch. He is estranged from his wife Katherine who left him two years before, suspecting him of adultery. McLintock hires beautiful widow Louise Warren as his cook and welcomes both her and her two children into his home. Sparks begin to fly as an unexpected turn of events results in brawls, gunfire, an Indian attack...and the return of Mrs. McLintock, who wants custody over their daughter Becky (who returns from boarding school only a few days after her mother's arrival) and a divorce.

There are two spanking scenes in this movie, both M/F:
- The first one is about three-quarters of the way through the movie. Becky McLintock (Stefanie Powers) gets spanked OTK with a coal shovel by Devlin Warren (Patrick Wayne). Her father looks on with amusement and approval.
- The second is at the very end of the movie, and more famous. George Washington McLintock (John Wayne) chases his estranged wife (Maureen O'Hara) through town in her underwear, during which she loses her petticoat, leaving her in corset and bloomers. When he finally catches her, he puts her over his knee and spanks her with a coal shovel in front of a large and appreciative crowd. She yells loudly at each whack, but once the spanking is over, the couple is immediately reconciled.
Stefanie Powers wore padding for her spanking, but Maureen O'Hara could not do the same because she was in bloomers. In her autobiography, Maureen notes that people often ask her if the spanking hurt. Her reply: "It sure as hell did. I was black and blue for days."
