Offense (also spelled offence) is a term for:
- in sports, an attack
- in law, a violation of the penal law
- a breaking of a rule or regulation
- a discourtesy (hurting the feelings of others)

Children are are often scolded and/or punished for childish offenses (misbehavior) by their parents, guardians, or other people in loco parentis such as babysitters, governesses, teachers, etc.
Typical examples of punishable childish offenses are:
- disobedience (e.g. to their parents)
- disrespect, defiance, rebellion against authority
- lying
- stealing (e.g. toys, books, food, money)
- teasing, picking fights
- hurting people or animals, hitting, biting, kicking, throwing
- damaging property (vandalism)
- pulling pranks
- playing hooky
- cursing, name calling
- throwing tantrums
- carelessness, slovenliness, uncleanliness
- laziness
- fidgeting
- irresponsibility
