A model is a person who poses for a photographer, a painter, sculptor, or other artist.
Today, where much more photos are made than paintings and drawings, most models are photo models. Models pose for all kinds of photographs: for advertisement, for magazines, for books, for websites, and so on.
Modelling mainly requires good looks, good control of facial expression, patience, and no shyness to pose in front of an artist or a camera. It does not require the same kind of acting skills as an actor, or a trained and pleasant voice.
