A picture is any two-dimensional, visual depiction -- in short, any image. This includes drawings, paintings, photographs, and digitally created images such as rendered art. However, the term "picture" is most often used for images that show or purport to show actual objects or scenes. Sometimes "picture" is used in a more limited fashion to mean "painting".
