A spanking game is a game in which spanking is used as a forfeit for losing, or a reward for winning. Almost any parlor or card game can be played in a spanking version. "Spanking poker" is a classic example, usually played as an extension to strip poker.

Other games involve playful spanking without punitive connotations, for example birthday spankings.

A third category are games in which no real spanking takes place, but in which spanking plays some other role, for example spanking trivia quizzes or spanking crossword puzzles.

La main chaude is a painting by Rembrandt (c. 1632) that depicts a game in which a player is blindfolded and spanked and has to guess who has administered the slap. This game is known as "Hot Cockles" in English.

Paul Charles Chocarne-Moreau (1855-1931) also did a painting of this children's game, although in the variant he painted the slap is given to the player's hand, not his bottom. See image to the right.
